What makes meetings so awful?

Meetings are typically a WOMBAT (waste of money, brains, and time). Why?

I’ve observed and analysed meetings for a long time now and have come up with a list of the behaviours and attitudes that kill meetings.

Post your pet hates and let’s compare notes.

The interrupting high volume naff tune cellphone ring followed by the equally high volume naff banal conversation.

Or, less annoying for me, but still distracting - the guy playing games on his cellphone during a meeting.

People that ‘grab the microphone’ and forget that time is limited, there are other participants who have something to say and often completely shift off the topic.

Or meetings that are organised by someone who needs to report activity!

Those guys who receive calls in a meeting loudly, and speaking their mother tongue in huge volumes. They disgust!

Amazing subject! I think the meeting will turn awful when there are more disagreement opinions that agreements! Uncontrollable noise or arguments!
